My Dichotomy

I finished Week 3 of the running plan I've been working on yesterday.

I also made these for dinner:

(It's the bread-looking things on the left; I borrowed this picture from someone else!)

Puffed French Toast (Crystal Palace Restaurant - Magic Kingdom)

Serving Size 6

Ingredients:

4 teaspoons cinnamon
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 each eggs
2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
12 slices bread
oil -- for frying

Method:

1. Combine 3/4 cup sugar with cinnamon and set aside.

2. Mix egg, 2 1/2 tablespoons of sugar, salt, vanilla and milk until well blended.

3. Slowly add flour and baking powder and mix until smooth.

4. Cut bread diagonally into triangles.

5. Dip bread triangles in batter, allowing excess to drip off. Fry in hot oil until golden brown on both sides. Drain on absorbent paper towel. While toast is still warm, roll in sugar/cinnamon mixture.

I didn't do a calorie analysis, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the sweaty effort of one was canceled out by the delicious sweetness of the other.

Anyone else see a pattern here? :)

That looks so good Beth! I'm thinking Breakfast for dinner tonight. Yummm! If it's as good as your raspberry cheesecake then I know it's awesome.

I love your logic. I'll make these for din din and call it good. It will be tiring to make after all. haha.

It's funny that your post was about french toast for dinner. I just did the same thing 2 nights in a row. Although your Magic Kingdom recipe puts my plain old french toast to shame.

Hey you have to reward yourself somehow right? I have never been able to find anyway to reward myself for good behavior better than good old food. Probably why I am on my way to wearing tents. Anyway, congrats on running and congrats on the great recipe.
