Munchies

Before I get to the "meat" of my blog I have to explain the title and ending quote of my last blog...I don't think I'm "cooler" than anyone! The title came from the ending quote, which comes from a song...I like that quote because it exposes the total ridiculousness of comparing, coveting, criticizing, and pride. When I first heard the song (which I can't listen to b/c of some profanity; didn't know that when I first heard it) I laughed, because it's so true. Just when you think you're doing okay you realize, Man, I'd better get humble, because check out THAT person! Or, in a more "middle school" kind of way, when somebody else insults or belittles you, you can think "Hey, there's always someone cooler than you!" I say, share the love.

I SO have the munchies tonight! It literally has to be food that makes a "munching" sound. So far I've tried tortilla chips, Ritz crackers, and Cheerios. Although all of these items are low in fat and calories, when added all together, they have plenty of calories - too many calories! Oprah says I'm not supposed to eat in the two hours before bedtime, but my body says eat everything you can find! Who wins? Maybe one of my genes is still in "feast or famine" mode. Apparently it believes that I am in a constant famine situation. Did it not look in the mirror this morning?

Dan and I made a big move this weekend. We bought a new mattress. This one is king sized, a step up from our current queen sized mattress. Basically, Dan's a super-sensitive sleeper and has been wanting a new mattress for months; we finally took the leap and the bed will be delivered tomorrow. Problem: although our bedroom is the biggest in the house, it still isn't that big and the bed will take up much of the room.

Let's make this an interactive blog. What do you think is one of the worst song covers you've ever heard? I have to say that Madonna's "American Pie" is horrifying. I also believe that since it's nearly impossible to improve on Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel's work together that nobody should even try.

"Having a church full of members is like the wood-box full of sticks - it's a handy place to have them but they don't do any good till they catch fire."

Hmm. I can't think of bad covers off the top of my head, but if you want some good ones... Eva Cassidy.

Mmmmm, munchies! When I really looked at my eating habits, though, I realized that the only time I ate (a large amount of) calories I didn't need was after dinner. So I cut it off completely. It took quite a few days for me not to crave anything, but now I'm set.

If you want something crunchy, I found these great garlic parmesan pita chips at Sam's. They're REALLY good.

I can't think of a cover right now. I'll come back when I do!
