"I am a Protestant Baptist. I believe that frugality is the only way of life that the Lord meant for us to live."
I found the above comment on a frugality website. The lady who said this is 38 years old. Her husband serves in the military, and she is a foster mom to six children. She sells Avon on the side.
Do you think her statement is correct? IS frugality the only way God wants us to live?

My initial thought is yes, He wants us to be frugal. Frugality is important... living within your means is important. Hard work+ frugality = independence, security, and prosperity. It doesn't mean having nothing, living on bare necessities only, denying your family opportunities like travel, lessons, sports, etc.It just being wise with the money you have.
I don't think being extravagant(but within our means) every once in a great while is a sin though. (Disney trips!):)
{I'm not too sure I made any sense here- I shouldn't comment on blogs at 1:30am!}
I think being frugal is great. But not to the point of separating your 2-ply toilet paper and making it 1-ply to save a little extra $. I think the Lord wants us to be wise and make good choices with our money as well as our time and be self relient.
I'm not trying to scare anyone off here! I don't really have an opinion about this and was hoping to borrow one...
I just thought that was a pretty bold statement to make.
More in my next post...
hmmm.. I wonder what happened to my comment. maybe it got deleted because it wasn't very well written.
Atleast I thought I wrote a comment, but maybe it didn't get sent?
hmmm...
Nikki - I found your post and published it! Usually they're emailed to me, but I didn't receive that one; I had to go to my "unmoderated comments" page to find it. And I'm glad I did! Very sensible.
And I agree with Gretta too - some things aren't worth the time and money.
From our money to our talents and our time, God expects us to spend what we have wisely. I certainly think He wants us to be frugal. But, my complaint with that is just that so many people are stingy and selfish under the umbrella of frugality. You can be frugal AND generous.
